Fresh Jive was one of the UK’s most prolific hip hop events after launching in Leeds in 1998. Pioneering a movement in hip hop culture, it brought together local breakdancers to battle against some of the world’s best bboys and girls, while home-grown MCs shared a stage with international hip hop artists including Public Enemy, Masta Ace, Sugarhill Gang, Roots Manuva, Method Man and Redman, and DJs such as DJ Craze, The Scratch Perverts, DJ Renegade and Maxi Jazz.
